KPGA Classic 3rd round leader Added 13 points with 8 birdies despite strong winds

Last year's Hangzhou Asian Games gold medalist Jang Yu-bin entered the race for the lead in the third round of the Korea Professional Golf (KPGA) Classic (total prize money of 700 million won).

Jang Yu-bin scored 13 points with 8 birdies and 3 bogeys in the third round on the third day of the tournament held at Golf Zone County Yeongam 45 (par 72, 7,556 yards) in Yeongam, Jeollanam-do on the 11th.

Jang Yu-bin, who has accumulated 27 points through the third round, is tied for the lead with Kim Chan-woo as of 3 p.m.

Since Chan-Woo Kim is in the middle of a match, there is a possibility that his ranking will change after the third round.

This competition is held in a modified stableford format where a birdie is awarded 2 points, an eagle is awarded 5 points, a bogey is awarded -1 point, and a double bogey or worse is awarded -3 points.

Jang Yu-bin, who was tied for 31st place until the second round, started the third round in the first group, but there is a high possibility that she will play in the champion group in the final round on the 12th.

Jang Yu-bin, who finished the match, said, "I had a really good start today with consecutive birdies in holes 1 to 3," and "It was difficult because the wind was strong, but the wind calculation was just right in hole 2, so from then on, I had a reference point, so I had a great time seeing the wind." “There were no difficulties,” he said.

Also, since the trajectory of the shot is very low, it is not greatly affected by the wind, which was a factor in Jang Yu-bin scoring a lot of points that day.

After training camp ahead of this season, he lost about 8kg and gained a tall physique, standing at 184cm tall and weighing 82kg.

Despite losing a lot of weight, he ranks first in this category with an average distance of 309.3 yards this season.

Jang Yu-bin, who lost weight because she did not like her appearance on TV rather than her performance, expressed confidence, saying, "I think my distance is actually a little longer."

Jang Yu-bin also performed well in the Honors K and Solarago CC Han Jang Sang Invitational, which was also held in a modified stableford format in July of last year before turning professional, with a tie for 6th place.

He said, “I think it’s a format that suits me well,” and “I tend to rush into it once I hit a birdie, so this competition is fun where there are many birdies at an advantage.”

Before this competition, Jang Yu-bin was ranked 2nd in the most birdies category this season.

Also, at last year's Hangzhou Asian Games, where he competed as an amateur, he showed off his explosive power by making 12 birdies in the first round.

He appeared in four KPGA Tour competitions this season and achieved 'Top 10' three times, including 4th place twice and 6th place once. He said, "My putt has improved noticeably compared to last year," and "I felt anxious about short putts last year. “But this year, there is less tension and my strokes are coming out,” he said, explaining the secret to his early rise.

When asked about her goal for this tournament, Jang Yu-bin replied, "Yesterday, I thought (winning) was a bit difficult, but after today's performance, I want to set my goal as winning," and added, "If the weather is good tomorrow, I need to add 15 or 16 points to be stable." He showed motivation.

Jang Yu-bin won the Gunsan CC Open in August last year when she was an amateur, and has yet to win since turning professional. 고스톱
