It's a paradoxical compliment. Son Heung-min's absence is huge.

Spursweb, which specializes in Tottenham news, said on the 28th (Korea time), "Coach Ange Postecoglou praised Christian Romero. In the absence of Son Heung-min recently, Romero did his best to fill the role and is proving to be a true leader in the Tottenham Hotspur dressing room."

The media said, "It is not surprising that Postecoglou appointed Son Heung-min as the captain after Tottenham's appointment. With goalkeeper Hugo Lloris excluded from the club's future plans and Harry Kane moved to Bayern Munich, Son Heung-min's appointment as captain was an obvious choice.

However, Postecoglou chose Christian Romero as one of his vice-captain alongside James Maddison. His nomination was unexpected. There was no doubt about his talent, but he failed to keep his dismissal record and composure on the field. Therefore, there was doubt about his leadership. Romero, however, proved a strong presence in the leadership group and is leading the team in Son's absence.'

The media said, "Postecoglou was satisfied with Romero's leadership. In an interview with Football London, Postecoglou praised Romero's performance while Son Heung-min was away from Korea in the Asian Cup.

To be sure, Postecoglou's counterargument is surprising. As the media pointed out, Romero was often sent off by mistake and lacked stability as a defender. Lionel Messi, a teammate of the Argentine national team and the best player of all time, called Romero the "best defender in the world." His talent is no doubt, and he is a strong center back. However, keeping calm was the problem.

In other words, he seemed to have leadership issues. But Postecoglou took responsibility for the unrest, placing Romero in the position of vice-captain. The contrast initiative was a success.

However, if you look at Postecoglou's praise for Homer, you can see that Son's absence is huge. In the absence of Son Heung-min, the ace leader who is stable and dedicated to the team, Homer's hard work is an unexpected result. However, in the long run, Tottenham can be an ideal team when Homer's responsibility is achieved under Son's solid leadership.

Romero is showing a commendable performance. Postecoglou's intention is also clear. It is a sign that Son Heung-min, who is irreplaceable, is filling the void well. It is a paradoxical compliment that Tottenham absolutely need Son Heung-min's presence.
