Hangzhou's gold beat Japanese player in semifinals and is likely to participate in Olympics in 'continental quarter'

Kim Ji-su (24, photo), a third-generation Korean-Japanese national judo representative, won the International Judo Federation (IJF) Antalya Grand Slam, increasing his chances of participating in the Paris Olympics.

Jisoo Kim won a foul over Russia's Dali Liluashvili (25), who competed as an individual neutral, in the women's 63kg final at the tournament held in Turkye Antalya on the 31st. Following the recommendation of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the IJF allowed athletes from Russia, which invaded Ukraine, and Belarus, a country that aided the invasion, to participate in international competitions only as individual neutrals.

Jisoo Kim won her second Grand Slam gold medal after winning her first senior title at the IJF Kazakhstan Astana Grand Slam in June last year. In the semifinals, Kim Ji-soo defeated last year's Hangzhou Asian Games champion Takaichi Miku (30, Japan) with a back-to-back bout.

Kim Ji-soo, who won the gold medal following the bronze medal at the Tbilisi Grand Slam in Georgia on the 24th of last month, is currently likely to participate in the Olympics according to the continental quota. Kim Ji-soo, who was born in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, first wore the Taegeuk symbol in 2017 and also participated in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. [1]
