South Korea's baseball coach Ryu Jung-il has vowed to defeat Japan in the second game of the Asian Professional Baseball Championship (APBC) after beating Australia for the team's first win.

Ryu's men earned a 3-2 victory over Australia in the first game of their APBC qualifier at the Tokyo Dome in Japan on Nov. 16.

Trailing 1-2 in the top of the eighth inning, Korea tied the game in the bottom of the eighth on a lucky hit by Kim Joo-won (NC Dinos) to send the game into extra innings, and secured the victory in the bottom of the tenth on a dramatic walk-off single by No. 4 hitter Noh Shi-hwan with runners on first and second base.

After the game, Ryu said, "It was a tough game. Moon Dong-ju gave up one home run, but he pitched well," said Ryu. "Choi Ji-min did a great job in the seventh inning to keep us in the game. I'm glad that Noh Si-hwan hit the winning run at the end."

"It was time to replace Moon Dong-ju after the fifth inning, but Moon's balance in the fourth and fifth innings was so good that I thought he should go up to 100 pitches. I personally apologize for making him throw so many pitches," he said.

The Korean batsmen created several scoring chances on the day, but were unable to capitalize. Ryu explained, "The younger players didn't have the timing because they were facing pitchers they hadn't seen before. The opposing pitcher's fastball was not fast, but his changeup was low and well placed, so we struggled."

South Korea's Noh Shi-hwan and other players greet manager Ryu Jung-il after their team's victory over Australia during the 2023 Asia Professional Baseball Championship (APBC) match between South Korea and Australia at the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan, on Nov. 16.

He then announced a change in the batting order for the next game. On this day, South Korea's lower order batted better than their top order.

South Korea will face fierce rival Japan a day later on Nov. 17, a team they must overcome to reach the final and win the title.

Ryu tipped Lee Yi-ri (KIA Tigers) to start against Japan, saying, "When the ball is fast and the pitching is good, they can't hit it. We will observe his pitches from the first inning to see if they are working well," he said.

"Lee is the best left-hander in Korea, and there are a lot of left-handed batters in Japan. I think he'll be able to keep them at bay if his pitches are good. I heard that my opponent is also a left-handed pitcher. I'll watch the video this evening and figure out how to attack."

In conclusion, Liu said, "I won a gold medal at the Hangzhou Asian Games, so I'm confident. The players, who are in the process of changing generations, will have a lot to learn tomorrow against Japan, who are one step ahead of us," Liu said, promising to play a game with both results and experience. 카지노사이트존
