Wins a house fight with heavyweight Younghee Son

Park Hye-jung of South Korea lifts a weight with her teeth during the women's weightlifting over 87kg competition at the Hangzhou Asian Games on Sunday.

"Weightlifting fairy" Park Hye-jung, 20, has won her first Asian Games gold medal in 13 years as a South Korean weightlifter.

Park lifted 125 kg in the lift and 169 kg in the snatch for a total of 294 kg to win gold in the women's 87 kg and above (heaviest weight class) weightlifting event at the Hangzhou Asian Games at the Xiaoshan Sports Center Gymnasium in Hangzhou, China, on Sunday. The last time a South Korean weightlifter won an Asian Games title was in Guangzhou in 2010, when Jang Jang-ran, 40, won the women's 75 kg and over (then the heaviest weight class).

Son Young-hee (30) also brought home another silver medal from Jakarta-Palembang 2018 after lifting a total of 283 kilograms (124 kg in the lift and 159 kg in the snatch). This is the first time a Korean female weightlifter has won gold and silver medals at the Asian Games in the same weight class. On the men's side, this has happened three times, including in Beijing in 1990 with Kim Tae-hyun (54) and Jeon Sang-seok (53) in the 110kg category.

With Li Wenyuan (23-China), the world record holder in this weight class (335 kg total), out of the competition due to injury, Park Hye-jung was the number one favorite to win. However, the gold medal race was tightly contested, with Son Young-hee trailing Park by just one kilogram in the impressions. After lifting 159 kilograms, one kilogram less than Park (160 kilograms) in the second phase of the Yongshang, Son tried to break her own Korean record (169 kilograms) in the third phase, but failed. Park, on the other hand, lifted 169 kilograms in the third period to seal the deal.

"My body was shaking the whole time," Park said of the final third, but she was confident, "I thought I could lift more than 170 kilograms next time." "I was under a lot of pressure to fight with Younghee. We said to each other, 'Let's go home smiling,' and I'm glad we did well." 카지노사이트
