Hamus joins PSG

French giants Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), home of Lee Kang-in (22), have signed a young Portuguese attacker who played at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

PSG announced on Monday (July 8) that it has signed Benfica (Portugal) forward Gonçalo Hamus (22-Portugal) on loan until the end of the 2023-24 season. The deal reportedly includes an option to buy the player outright after the loan.

According to local media, PSG spent a total of €80 million to acquire Hamus.

Hammous has been given the number 9 on his back, symbolizing the first-choice striker.

"I am very proud and happy to join PSG," he said on the club's website, adding, "PSG is one of the biggest clubs in the world and has the best squad."

PSG's Neymar shares his joy with Lee Kang-in after scoring a brace during the second half of the Coupang Play Series third leg match between Jeonbuk Hyundai and Paris Saint-Germain FC at Busan Asiadju Stadium in Yeonje-gu, Busan, South Korea, on Aug. 3.

Born in 2001, Hamus came to prominence when he represented Portugal at the World Cup in Qatar late last year.

He made a surprise start in place of Cristiano Ronaldo (Alnasr) against Switzerland in the round of 16, scoring a hat-trick in the team's 6-1 win.

After making his professional debut for Benfica in 2020, Hammus went on to score 27 goals in 47 games in the 2022-23 season.

"He will be a replacement for Kylian Mbappe, who has rejected an extension and is in a standoff with the club," the BBC reported.

PSG will open the 2023-24 Ligue 1 season against Lorient on Sept. 13. 한국야동
