"Grandchild of the Wind" Lee Jung-hoo (26, San Francisco Giants) stole his first base in 13 MLB games.
Lee Jung-hoo started as the first batter and center fielder in an away game against the Tampa Bay Rays in 2024 Major League Baseball at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, on the 13th (Korea time), and recorded a hit, steal, and score in his second at-bat.
Lee Jung-hoo, who played three days after the game against the Washington Nationals on the 10th, stepped down with a hit in his first at-bat in the top of the first inning.
However, the team succeeded in getting on base as the leadoff hitter in the top of the third inning when the team was trailing 0-1.
Lee Jung-hoo missed the shortstop by hitting Tampa Bay starter Jacob Wagspeak's fourth high fastball with two balls and one strike. It was Lee's 13th hit of the season.
Lee Jung-hoo, who took first base, stole second base during Lamonte Wade Jr.'s at-bat and took advantage of the catcher's throwing error to settle for third base.
MLBcom previously pointed out that Lee Jung-hoo did not succeed in stealing a single base, but Lee Jung-hoo scored his first steal of the season.
Wade Jr. was later out on an infield ground ball and stranded at third base, but Lee Jung-hoo came home when Wegspeck made a wild pitch during Jorge Soler's at-bat.
San Francisco, meanwhile, allowed one run despite Lee Jung-hoo's tiebreaking run in the bottom of the third, and is now 1-2 behind Tampa Bay after finishing the top of the fourth.
