Two Korean records in one day, 'golden generation of relays' born[править]

Korea's "golden generation of men's swimming" broke the national record twice in one day.

The South Korean men's 800-meter freestyle relay team of Hwang Sun-woo, Kim Woo-min, Yang Jae-hoon and Lee Ho-joon finished sixth in the 800-meter medley relay final at the Fukuoka 2023 World Aquatics Championships at Fukuoka Marine Messe Fukuoka Hall in Fukuoka, Japan, on Monday with a time of 7:04.07. The South Koreans set a new national record of 7:06.82, beating their previous best of 7:06.82 by 2.75 seconds in less than half a day in the preliminary race.

Great Britain won the gold medal in 6:59.08, with the United States taking silver in 7:00.02 and Australia taking bronze in 7:02.13. The Koreans had an evenly matched performance, with only 0.21 seconds separating them from fourth-placed France (7:03.86), despite ace Hwang Sun-woo not being in top form. The leveling off of the athletes' performances means that Korea is getting closer and closer to the world level that seemed so far away.

South Korea had great swimmers like Cho Oh-ryun and Choi Yun-hee who dominated the Asian scene in the '70s and '80s, but they were not able to perform well on the world stage like the Olympics because of the 'Asian limitation'. However, in the late 2000s, a world-class swimming monster named Park Tae-hwan emerged, and South Korea became a country that could expect medals on the big stages of the World Championships and Olympics, and now Hwang Sun-woo has taken over Park's position as the ace of Korean swimming.

In fact, to date, Korea Swimming has won four medals at the Olympics (1 gold, 3 silver) and five medals at the World Aquatics Championships (2 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze). However, these were all won by the country's two "geniuses," Park Tae-hwan and Hwang Sun-woo, and since the mid-2000s, Korean swimming has been criticized for the gap in quality between Park and the rest of the team. In other words, it was hard to expect Park to do well in a relay event, where even Cheonha's Park can only be one of four swimmers.

But in the 2020s, with 200m freestyle bronze medalist Hwang Sun-woo at the helm, Korean swimming began to change. The South Korean 800-meter freestyle relay team of Hwang, Lee Ho-joon, Kim Woo-min, and Lee Yoo-yeon made their first-ever World Championships final at last year's World Championships in Budapest, finishing fourth overall in the preliminary race. The relay team finished sixth overall in the final, but set a new Korean record with a time of 7:06.93, showing the promise of a "golden generation" of Korean swimmers.

South Korea had a new team at this year's World Championships, with last year's members Hwang Sun-woo, Lee Ho-joon, and Kim Woo-min joined by Yang Jae-hoon as specialty relay runners. They were in fine form individually during the event, with Hwang winning bronze in the men's 200 meters and ninth in the 100 meters, Lee Ho-joon finishing sixth in the 200 meters, and Kim Woo-min finishing fifth in the 400 meters and setting a new Korean record in the 800 meters. It was also encouraging for the relay team that ace Hwang Sun-woo was given a day off on the 27th after missing out on the 100m final.

The Korean freestyle relay team raced in lane 2 of 6 in the preliminaries and finished third in lane 2 and sixth overall in 7:06.82, qualifying for their second consecutive final 먹튀검증 after last year's event in Budapest. They also set a new Korean record by 0.11 seconds, beating the previous record set in last year's final. South Korea was the only Asian nation to reach the final of the men's 800m freestyle relay, as host Japan finished ninth (7:08.70) and China 11th (7:09.99).

Korea's sixth-place finish in the preliminaries earned them lane seven in the final. Korea's ace Hwang Sun-woo, who started as the first runner, slowed down at the 100m mark and fell to the bottom of the field, but Kim Woo-min, who started as the second runner, improved his position with a good time of 1:44. The final runner, Lee Ho-joon, came from behind to post another good time of 1:44 and touch the touchpad in 6th place, 2.04 seconds ahead of 7th place Germany (7:06.14).

In the 800-meter freestyle relay, South Korea was relying heavily on 200-meter freestyle bronze medalist Hwang Sun-woo. They sent Hwang as the first swimmer, hoping that he would be able to overpower Kisun. However, Hwang was not at his best in the medley relay as he was exhausted after competing in the 200m and 100m freestyle back-to-back. Nevertheless, the South Korean swimmers put on a good show, breaking the Korean record twice during the day, indicating that they are developing their skills evenly.

Korea's time of 7:04.07 in the 800-meter freestyle relay was 4.63 seconds faster than 9th-place Japan's 7:08.70 and a whopping 5.92 seconds faster than 11th-place China's 7:09.99. Based on their performance at the World Championships, South Korea are the favorites to win gold in the men's 800m freestyle relay at the Hangzhou Asian Games. Let's hope that the golden generation of Korean swimmers will manage their physical condition for the rest of the year and perform at their best at the Asian Games.

Women's basketball wins fourth straight AG title with win over Philippines[править]

Korea's Sun Min-ho Chung is undefeated at the Hangzhou Asian Games and has reached the quarterfinals. Next up, Japan.

The South Korean women's basketball team, led by head coach Jung Sun-min, advanced to the semifinals with a 93-71 victory over the Philippines in the women's basketball quarterfinals of the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games at the Shaoxing Olympic Sports Center in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China on Tuesday. The team had previously defeated Thailand, North Korea, and Chinese Taipei in their previous three group games to go on a four-game winning streak. However, the margin of victory was the smallest in the quarterfinals (12 points).

After starting with a five-point deficit to the Philippines, South Korea opened the game with a three-pointer from Park Ji-hyun (Woori Bank) and a flurry of outside shots to take a 10-point lead (23-13) in the first quarter. From then on, they maintained the gap and steadily secured the victory, except for one moment in the third quarter. Park Ji-soo (KB) scored 15 points in just 14 minutes of play, while Park Ji-hyun contributed 14 points and 8 rebounds. Kang Isul (15 points - KB) and Shin Ji-hyun (12 points - Hana OneQ) each hit four three-pointers.

Next up for South Korea is Japan, who are coming off a near double-digit 89-47 win over Indonesia at the same time. Japan is ranked No. 9 in the FIBA rankings, four spots higher than South Korea (No. 13), and has a strong roster, with seven of the 12 members of the team that won silver at the Tokyo Olympics two years ago. They also defeated the Philippines in the group stage, 96-59, by a whopping 37 points. That's three times the point differential.

Japan has averaged 40 three-point attempts and only 10 team turnovers in its first four games. That's a far cry from South Korea, which is averaging 24 three-pointers and 16 team turnovers per game. This is the biggest test yet for Chung's team as they look to return to the top of Asia after a nine-year hiatus since the last time they 메이저사이트 competed in Incheon in 2014. South Korea has won the women's basketball title four times. It is second only to China (six). The women's basketball game between Korea and Japan will be played on March 3 at 9 p.m. KST.

At the same time, the men's basketball team, led by Chu Il-seung, won 88-73 against Bahrain in the quarterfinals. Chu entered the game on a thorny path, having lost to Japan in the group stage two days earlier, leaving them with one more game to reach the quarterfinals. With a full complement of players, the team had a relatively easy time of it against Bahrain, but will now face a tough test in the quarterfinals in 14 hours (1 p.m. on March 3) when they take on defending champion China.

Kane on breaks four Bundesliga records with hat-trick in second straight game[править]

Harry Kane's explosive goal-scoring form for Bayern Munich has cemented his place in Bundesliga history.

The Bavarians cruised to a 4-0 victory over Dortmund in the 10th round of the 2023/24 German Bundesliga at the Zignale Iduna Park in Dortmund, Germany on Friday (Aug. 5).

Kane started the game as a frontline striker in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Kane did not disappoint in the 'der Klassiker' against Dortmund, opening the scoring in the ninth minute with a right-footed header from a Leroy Sane cross from the left side of the penalty box.

Kane didn't stop there, as he calmly finished with his right foot from Kingsley Coman's low cross from the right flank in the 27th minute. Kane completed his hat-trick in the 48th minute with a powerful right-footed finish after Aleksandar Pavlovic intercepted a pass from defender Niklas Zuerle.

Kane also scored a hat trick in the ninth round of the Bundesliga against Darmstadt on Aug. 28. He also scored three goals against Dortmund, making it two hat tricks in as many games. Thanks to Kane, Munich is unbeaten in 10 league games with eight wins and two draws (26 points). They are just two points behind first-place Bayer Leverkusen (9 wins, 1 draw, 28 points).

"Kane made Bundesliga history with his hat-trick against Dortmund," Germany's Kicker reported on June 6. According to the outlet, Kane broke four Bundesliga records.

First, he became the player with the most offensive points in the first 10 Bundesliga games. Kane's current record is 15 goals and five assists for 20 attacking points. No player has scored more goals and assists than Kane since the assist record was created in the 1989/90 season. The previous record of 13 offensive points was held by Elling Holland (10 goals, 3 assists) and Bremer Diego (5 goals, 8 assists) while at Dortmund.

The second time a player has accumulated 20 attacking points in 10 games in a season is also a Bundesliga record. The previous record was 18 by Robert Lewandowski of Munich in the 2020/21 season. Kane, who came to Munich as Lewandowski's successor, surpassed Lewandowski's record.

Third, Kane broke Klaus Matthyszak's Bundesliga record 토토사이트 of 13 goals in the first 10 games of the 1963/64 season with Schalke 04. Finally, Kane equaled the record of 15 goals in the first 10 games of a season set by German legend Gerd Muller in 1968/69.

"That was my best game of the season," Kane said after the game, "and I'm getting better every game. I'm getting better and better with each game." Kane, who joined Munich from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window, has been in scoring form in Germany. Through 10 rounds, Kane has scored an average of 1.5 goals per game. If he keeps up the momentum, he could reach 51 goals by round 34.

Klopp's 'Last Dance' to be made into a documentary.[править]

A documentary to mark Jürgen Klopp's final season in charge will be released.

"Filming is underway on a multi-episode documentary about Liverpool that will be broadcast after the end of the 2023-24 season," the club announced on its website today.

"The documentaries will provide fans with a unique spectacle and allow us to tell the story of Liverpool to a wider audience than ever before. All of this will be about Liverpool's historical background, its journey to the present day, and the stories of its people."

The implications are profound. This is Klopp's final season at the helm of the Reds. On June 26, Klopp announced that he would step down as Liverpool manager at the end of the season.

Klopp's accomplishments have been impressive. Since taking over the reins in 2015, he has built Liverpool into one of Europe's most dominant teams. The Reds have won numerous trophies with Klopp, including the UEFA Champions League, Premier League (PL), English Football League Cup (EFL Cup), and English FA Cup.

It was Klopp who brought in the talent that is now a mainstay of Liverpool and will be for years to come. It was he who brought Liverpool and PL legend Mohamed Salah to the club, and it was he who brought world-class defender Van Dijk to Liverpool. The full-back pairing of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson is one of the best in the world.

Klopp also had a word to say about the documentary. "This is my last season in charge, so I thought I should give the fans an insight into what makes Liverpool special," he said.

"With this documentary, they can see what I face every day at this 메이저토토사이트 great club," Klopp added.

Liverpool's VP of Digital, Drew Crisp, is also excited. "The documentary will show the true face of Liverpool. It will explore our rich history, the unrivaled relationship between the team and our fans, and what makes us successful," he said.

Tuchel's Kim Min-jae-Dyer 'sniping'[править]

Thomas Tuchel's (51) interview has crossed the line.

Bayern Munich drew 2-2 with SC Freiburg 2-2 in the 24th round of the 2023-2024 Bundesliga at the Europa-Parkstadion in Freiburg, Germany, on Sunday.

The result leaves Munich with 17 wins, three draws and four losses and 54 points, putting a red flag on their bid for a 12th consecutive Bundesliga title. The gap between them and leaders Leverkusen (61 points), who have played one game less, is seven points. If Leverkusen defeats Cologne in this round, the gap will increase to 10 points.

On this day, Bayern Munich lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Harry Kane was up front, with Jamal Musial, Thomas Muller, and Mathis Thiel in the attacking second line. Leon Goretzka, Aleksandar Pavlovic, and Raphael Guerreiro, Kim Min-Jae, Eric Dier, and Jozua Kimmich formed the back four. Manuel Neuer was in goal.

Munich started shakily and conceded an early goal. In the 12th minute, Schurrle headed in a cross that was saved by the goalkeeper, and then a bicycle kick from a high ball hit the post.

Freiburg battled for the ball in the air before Günter found the back of the net with a half-volley.

Munich weren't going to go down without a fight. In the 35th minute, Tell found the back of the net with a powerful right-footed shot following a good touch in the box. A wonder goal to level the match.

From there, Munich continued to pound away at the goal and turned the game on its head in the second half. In the 30th minute, Moussaoui Allah broke through the defense on a solo dribble from the left flank off a 메이저사이트 pass from Kim Min-jae. After shaking off three defenders, Moussaoui scored the game-winning goal with an accurate shot. It was Kim Min-Jae's first assist in the Bundesliga.

However, Munich could not maintain their focus. In the 42nd minute, a long throw-in into the box found Michael Gregoric, who touched the ball with the ball of his foot. This was followed by a straight shot by Höller, who scored the winning goal and the game ended in a 2-2 draw.

According to the German "kicker," Tuchel, who was interviewed after the game, shouted abuse at his defenders. In the process, Tuchel also used the harsh word hara-kiri.

Speaking to DAZN, Tuchel said, "It was a bad first 30 minutes. We had a good second half with a lot of chances, but after that we lost without reward," he said.

"The first 30 minutes were completely unstructured and we had no control in terms of positional play. We attacked without any effect and allowed them to counterattack."

Tuchel also pointed to defensive communication. "There was a lack of communication in defense and no one was aware that the game was changing," he said.

"I don't think it's a matter of the players' will," Tuchel said. It's a matter of tactical execution. Some of them were 'hara-kiri'. There was one where the center back ran ahead of the fullback. They played a play that we didn't train or discuss," he said of the central defenders. The central defense pairing of Kim Min-Jae and Eric Dyer played the entire game.

"The first 30 minutes were so reckless and we were punished for it," he added.

Man City up, Man City down, Man City sells at a loss[править]

No one could have imagined the downfall of Calvin Phillips, once nicknamed the 'Yorkshire Pirlo'.

His former club, Manchester City, made the tough decision to sell him, even at a loss.

Phillips was a rising star at UEFA Euro 2020. Although he had been the nucleus of Leeds United's midfield before, it was at the major tournament that Phillips really started to make a name for himself with fans around the world.

At the time, Phillips made a name for himself by dominating the middle of the park alongside Declan Rice with his work rate and crisp passing, and he played a key role in England's run to the final. Phillips was nicknamed the 'Yorkshire Pirlo' because his club, Leeds, were based in Yorkshire, England.

It was Man City, who were building a dynasty in the Premier League (PL), who reached out to the rising Euro star. Pep Guardiola was so impressed with Phillips' performances that he decided to sign him to add depth to his midfield. Phillips was eager to join City, where he could challenge for the PL title.

However, Phillips faded after his move to City. He failed to take care of himself, including failing to keep his weight under control, and he was unable to keep up with the pace of City's game. Guardiola tried many things, including leaving him off the roster and publicly criticizing him, but he didn't change. Eventually, Phillips had to go out on loan.

With Rice's departure to Arsenal leaving a gaping hole in midfield, West Ham United were interested in Phillips, and he signed for the Hammers in the winter transfer window.

The loan didn't change the player. Phillips continued to struggle at West Ham. He was sent off against Nottingham Forest and had one of his worst performances against Newcastle United, where he missed a penalty.

The chances of West Ham signing Phillips outright are close to 메이저사이트 zero. It has also been reported that his original club, Man City, is also preparing to sell him as his form has not improved.

Sami Mokbel of the UK's Daily Mail reported, "City are expected to sell Phillips this summer. Sources say City are looking for £30 million (about $510 million)."

City paid Leeds more than £45 million ($76.4 billion) for Phillips when they acquired him. City decided to sell Phillips even if it meant losing more than £15 million ($25.4 billion). Even at this loss, the club decided that it was better to sell Phillips than to keep him, given his weekly wages.

One of the rumored destinations for Phillips is his hometown club Leeds. However, it's doubtful that Leeds, who are currently in the promotion race, would pay £30 million for a player, especially one whose form has fallen off, even if they were to win promotion to the Premier League.

Mock Bell also said: "Phillips' potential move to Leeds is gathering pace. Many are saying that if Leeds are promoted to the PL, Phillips could be on the move. But £30 million is a lot of money for a newly promoted team to spend."

But declaring 'retirement from active duty', why? For the life of a 'father', greater than the athlete...[править]

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the "Lion King. One of the world's greatest strikers, defining an era alongside the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

A professional striker who played for Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona, AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, LA Galaxy, and more. He was in high demand because he was so good, and he was a legend in the Swedish national soccer team. With 561 goals in his career, Ibrahimovic has left the glory days behind him, and in 2023, he announced his retirement from the game.

Excluding his two seasons with the LA Galaxy, he played 25 seasons, 808 games, and 458 goals in Europe. He won 33 trophies. With his immense charisma and personality, he was an integral part of the golden age of European soccer and will go down in history as one of the most "unique" strikers of all time.

Many soccer fans around the world were sad to see the legend leave the game. Spain's Marca, in particular, had this to say about Ibrahimovic upon his retirement. "There will be no Ballon d'Or or UEFA Champions League (UCL) for Ibrahimovic. But along with Messi, Ronaldo, and Karim Benzema, he defined the golden generation of European soccer."

Ibrahimovic is still active in soccer, having recently returned to 토토사이트 AC Milan as a senior advisor.

In a recent YouTube broadcast, Ibrahimovic explained why he retired from the game. Although he was still confident and could have played more, he explained his decision to hang up his jersey.

"I stopped playing soccer eight months ago," Ibrahimovic said. My life is fine now. I'm fine. I'm in control of myself. I'm living a different life now, not a soccer player. AC Milan made me an offer I couldn't refuse, and I decided to work with them. Everything is going well at AC Milan," he said.

He then revealed why he had to step down. Ibrahimovic said that he chose the life of a father, which is more important than the life of a great soccer player.

"I think I was the best. I still think I'm the best. I could have continued my career. But I decided to stop, because I wanted to live a life for my family, not as a footballer. I wanted to be able to do a lot of things with my children. If I had continued playing football, I wouldn't have been able to do things with my children because of my knee problems. So I accepted that kind of life. It was good, I started a new chapter in my life."
