Promotion in as early as one year Jeonnam fails to win promotion after first relegation

Suwon Samsung, a prestigious professional soccer K-League club, is heading to the second division for the first time since its founding. Accordingly, attention is expected to focus on when Suwon can return to the first division. While some clubs have returned after a year, there are also clubs that have stayed in the second division for five years.

Suwon drew 0-0 with Gangwon FC in the home game of the final 38th round of Hana One Q K League 1 2023 held at Suwon World Cup Stadium on the 2nd. Suwon, which was confirmed to be ranked 12th in the bottom, will be relegated to K League 2 (second division) next year.

Suwon, founded in 1995 and playing in the K-League since 1996, played in the second division for the first time after the promotion and relegation system was introduced. Suwon has won the K-League four times (1998, 1999, 2004, 2008) and the Korea Football Association (FA) Cup five times (2002, 2009, 2010, 2016, 2019). Although it is a prestigious club, it suffered the humiliation of being relegated to the second division.
