Welsh soccer legend Gareth Bale, who has been known as a "golf fanatic" since his active days, succeeded in making his first hole-in-one in his life.

"Vale succeeded in making his first hole-in-one," the U.S.-based ESPN posted a video on its official social networking service (SNS) on Tuesday. Bale had his iron tee shot at the par-3 hole around the beach in the hole cup. After checking the hole-in-one right after the tee shot, Bale was happy as if he was doing a goal ceremony with his teammates.

After growing up as a world star in Tottenham Hotspur (England), Bale joined Real Madrid (Spain) after the end of the 2012-2013 season, breaking the transfer fee of 110 million euros. He was a huge star with a weekly wage of more than 1 billion won. Bale has won 14 trophies including four Champions League trophies since then, but was criticized as "eat and run" as he failed to maintain his competitiveness due to frequent injuries. He was also criticized for enjoying golf more than soccer.

Bale returned to Tottenham briefly as a loan player for the 2020-2021 season and played with Son Heung-min. Having created a turning point by spending his own successful season with Tottenham, Bale led Wales to the World Cup for the first time in 64 years at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. He retired after playing under LA Galaxy of the U.S. Major League Soccer.
