Guard Park Ji-hyun (24, Asan Woori Bank), who is considered a talent to lead the Korean women's basketball, will challenge to advance to overseas markets.

After leading Woori to win the championship title in the 2023-24 season, Park became a free agent and set up the first round of FA negotiations. He then asked the club to terminate the contract on the afternoon of the 14th, the deadline for negotiations. The reason was to play overseas.

According to the WKBL regulations, a player who voluntarily cancels his or her contract cannot continue due to special reasons during the contract period, so he or she applies in writing to his or her club, and the club approves it as a voluntarily cancel player, and the president publicly announced it. If a player becomes voluntarily cancel, he or she cannot register for the next season's league. He or she can return to his original team one year later, and can negotiate with other teams only three years after the announcement. In other words, Park will not be able to see Park in the next season's WKBL. Park, who is in her mid-20s, has made an important decision in her career.

Park Ji-hyun was the first player in the first round of the 2018-19 WKBL recruitment competition and wore a Woori Bank uniform. Coach Wi Sung-woo, who had a 4.8 percent chance to select a promising player, cheered. Under the leadership of Wi Sung-woo, who is considered one of the best players in the WKBL, Park has grown into one of the best guards in the league. Being tall (1m82cm), Park is considered an unstoppable weapon in the league. Having already worn the national flag as a high school student, Park participated in major international competitions. In just six years since his debut, Park has won two championships and three best-five awards, making him a leader in women's basketball.

Therefore, Park Ji-hyun, who earned her first FA qualification, was evaluated as the biggest fish in the market. Park Ji-hyun declared a surprise overseas challenge amid attention to which team will wear. If he remains in the WKBL, he has chosen a new stage challenge, even though he is sure that his salary will rise significantly.

Park challenged to play overseas because of her dream of playing overseas since she was a student. She also aspires to develop Korean women's basketball. In a telephone interview with this newspaper on Wednesday, Park said, "Playing overseas is a goal that I had in mind even before the season. At the same time, it was a dream that I had since I was a student. I thought this was an opportunity to play overseas."

Park Ji-hyun said, "I have faced off against many national team players while playing for the national team, and I have felt a lot while training. Whenever I met a strong or tall player, I felt I lacked. This challenge is not only a personal goal, but also a challenge for the Korean women's basketball team."

Given the nature of Korean women's basketball with a thin playing field, it is not easy to find examples of overseas players. This is even more true in Europe, where Park Ji-hyun wants to challenge. "Since there was no precedent at all, it was difficult to ask for advice or make a decision. Now that it is my first time, I feel a great sense of responsibility." However, he said, "If I manage well here, wouldn't it be helpful when someone sees me and challenges me the same way? I also want to prepare better." Regarding the reason why he chose Europe as his next destination, he said, "It is a league with many high-quality players, and I want to gain experience by playing in the Euro League, which is a competition against clubs."안전 토토사이트

"It's not a stage to prove myself, it's an opportunity for growth," Park said of her overseas expansion. "Right now, I couldn't say 'I want to show my fans how I'm doing well' to the fans or the fans who support me. Instead, I want to show them how I keep going without giving up."

Park said she has no intention of returning to the WKBL for the time being. Then, what will be the final stage? Referring to the WNBA, Park said, "I have nothing proven in other leagues yet, and I lack capability and experience. If I can go to the European league, I want to do my best to make up for what I lack. I want to watch the WNBA stage. I have no intention of returning to Korea after failing."

Finally, Park added, "I don't know yet if this challenge was the right one, but I have no regrets about my choice. If there are players who hesitate to take on the challenge because of fear, I want to show a good side first and share my strength."
