Team Hwang Seon-hong (see photo), who advanced to the U-23 Asian Cup in 2024, faced a setback even before the start of the Asian Cup. Two of the "overseas players" who are the main players of the Korean national team left the team due to circumstances of their teams. They have to overcome the gap in capacity through teamwork.

Commentator Han Jun-hee told the Kookmin Ilbo on the 9th, "The main players are missing, but the result of the tournament is unknown," adding, "It is most important to improve scoring ability in the front line and to temper as much as possible to prevent loose error plays in the defense." 안전놀이터

Yang Hyun-joon's team, Celtic, expressed their intention not to be called out on the 5th, and Brentford, Kim Ji-soo's team, did not allow him to be called out on the previous day. On this day, Jung Sang-bin (Minnesota United) decided to join the team, but it is not certain whether Bae Joon-ho (Stock City), who has not yet heard from him, will board.

The weapon one can rely on now is teamwork. Fortunately, most of the Olympic teams already played together at the Western Asian Federation (WAFF) U-23 Championship last month. The Olympic team, which is currently undergoing off-season training in Dubai, plans to stage a closed exhibition game with the Middle East team to enhance the completeness of its tactics before the first group match on June 16.

Hong Si-hoo (Incheon) and Kim Dong-jin (Pohang) will play as "Plan B" for Hwang. Both players do not have long professional careers, but they are multi-resources that can play multiple positions. Hong was consistently selected for national teams by age, and played in all of the last WAFF Championship. "Hong Si-hoo and Kim Dong-jin also played as starters, so it's not easy," a member of the committee said. "We can't predict that their organizational strength will be greatly damaged because they operated enough rotation during the competition at the time."

Meanwhile, Japan, the rival team for the Asian Cup title this time, has almost brought players from European leagues. Five players including goalie Kokubo Leo Bryan (Benfica), Takashi Uchino (Düsseldorf), Sato Gain (Berder Bremen), Rihito Yamamoto, and Joel Chima Fujita (Sintrawidan) joined the team.
