The 2023 Maguma-gu Real Glove Awards was held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Yongsan-gu, Seoul on Sunday. The Real Glove Awards is an award ceremony hosted by the Korea Professional Baseball Players Association and attended by Korean professional baseball players to select winners.

The Korea Professional Baseball Players Association released candidates for the 2023 Magumagu Real Glove Awards to about 700 Korean professional baseball players on the 20th to select the winners, and online voting was conducted until the 22nd. Five players who played the most innings for each position were selected as candidates, and the final winner was decided by voting for the player who showed the best defensive performance this season among the candidates.

The "Player of the Year" category, which selects the best player selected by players in 2023, has been selected as the final candidates with the top five players in terms of contribution to victory compared to replacement (WAR). Starting this year, the "Real Glove Pitcher Award," which was previously a category, has been subdivided into the starting pitcher award and the reliever award, highlighting the significance of his contribution to defense as a pitcher.

KT Wiz's Ko Young-pyo was honored as the starting pitcher. In this season's 28 games and 174 ⅔ innings, Ko led his team with 12 wins and 7 losses and an earned run average of 2.78. Notably, he had 21 quality starts in 28 appearances, demonstrating his performance as an "inning player."

Ko Young-pyo said, "Thank you for this great award. It is all the more valuable and honorable award because seniors and juniors chose it. I will do my best to do well next year so that I can receive this award next year."

The relief pitcher award went to KT's Park Young-hyun. Park pitched 75 ⅓s in 65 games this season, winning the hold king with an ERA of 2.75 and 32 holds. He was also selected as a member of the national team for the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games

Park Young-hyun, who became the "invited winner" of the Real Glove Reliever Award, said, "I am honored to receive this award. Thank you to the seniors and players who voted for me. I will do my best to win this award again next year."

In the catcher category, Park Dong-won, who led the LG Twins to their first win in 29 years. Park played 130 games and recorded 102 hits, 20 homers, 75 RBIs, 54 runs scored, and a batting average of 0.249. In the Korean Series against KT Wiz, he led his team to the championship with two crucial home runs.

Park Dong-won said, "Thank you so much for giving me the award. I will work hard next year so that this award will not be in vain.
