It is expected that the volleyball team of Oga Elementary School, which is on the verge of being disbanded due to the lack of students, will be able to survive.

According to an official of the Budget Office of Education, the relocation of the Oga-cho volleyball team to Geumo Elementary School is considered a strong option. However, if the Oga-cho volleyball team moves to Geumo Elementary School, Geumo Elementary School, which already has a swimming department, will have to run two sports departments, so a plan to transfer swimmers' training, participation in competitions, and related budget execution to the central elementary school (designated as a central school) is also being discussed at the same time.

The plan to operate Jungang Elementary School as a swimming-centered school is expected to be similar to the current method of operating Yesan Elementary School, a track and field-centered school. In the case of the school's track and field department in the county, high schools under the jurisdiction of the Chungnam Provincial Office of Education are excluded, and elementary, middle, and high school runners are receiving administrative and financial support, including the guidance of one track and field coach from the school, training, and participation in competitions, centered on Yesan Elementary School's track and field department.

However, during the negotiations to move the Ogacho volleyball team, the swimming team coach and the parents of the players raised concerns about whether it would have a negative impact on swimmers, such as the dissolution of the existing swimming team.

The Office of Education held the first round of consultations in Oga-cho on the 19th with the principals of Oga, Geumo, and Jungang Elementary School, the Military Sports Association, the Provincial Office of Education, the Provincial Volleyball Association, sports coaches, and athletes' parents to promote the smooth transfer of sports departments between schools.

One of the three parents of swimming players at the beginning of the day said, "If it was necessary to push for the relocation of the sports department, I should have consulted with the coach of the swimming department and the parents of the athletes in advance, but it is regrettable that there was no such communication," and added, "I feel like I have already decided and been notified by the education support office."

In response, Kim Jong-ha, head of the education office of the Yesan Education Support Office, said, "Central Elementary School is a swimming-centered school, and only the training, administration, and finance of elementary, middle, and high school swimmers in the county are being moved. Swimming coaches can also coach athletes at Geumocho as before, and move them to Jungangcho if they want," adding, "The swimming department remains the same at Geumocho, so there is no change from the perspective of swimmers."

"After obtaining consent from three schools related to the relocation of the Ogacho volleyball team in a big way, I thought it was the order to ask for understanding from the parents of the players," he said. "We plan to meet with swimming coaches and athletes' parents early this morning to listen to their opinions on the expected issues and coordinate specific details."

Meanwhile, Ogacho is a prestigious volleyball school with a 30-year history. It produced Kim Jeong-ho, an active member of Samsung Fire and Marine Insurance's volleyball team in the V-League. The Ogacho volleyball team is ready to make history at any time, but if no new players are received, it will naturally disband itself a year later.

Currently, five sixth-graders and one fifth-grader are barely forming a team to participate in the competition without a substitute. A year will pass without adding new players, and one fifth-grader will remain.

Ogacho has the largest number of students in one grade, with a small school with 47 students, and the number of freshmen this year is scheduled to be five, down three from last year.

At a time when the number of students recruited volleyball players is absolutely insufficient, the parents, volleyball coaches, and school officials who are on the verge of dismantling the volleyball team have made efforts to ask the Chungnam Provincial Office of Education, Yesan Education Support Office, Yesan County, and Yesan County Council to find ways to keep the volleyball team alive.

However, the local community was sorry that they could not find a solution such as a school to accept the volleyball team. Meanwhile, the number of all students in elementary school this morning was 641 as of last year, and 124 in Jungang elementary school.
