The Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA) escaped 11 consecutive losses against local rival LA Clippers.
The Lakers beat the Clippers 130-125 in the NBA regular league game of the 2023-24 season at Crypto Dot Cup Arena in Los Angeles, California, on the 2nd (Korea Standard Time).
It is the first time in about three years that the Lakers have won over the Clippers since December 2020. He has knelt for 11 consecutive games. LeBron James (LA Lakers) was active with 35 points, 12 rebounds, and 7 assists. DeAngelo Russell and Anthony Davis also scored 27 points each.
Paul George (35 points) and Kawhi Leonard (38 points) combined for 73 points for the Clippers, and Russell Westbrook played 24 points, seven rebounds and 11 assists, but failed to prevent the loss.
The Lakers led 114-106 by eight points about 1:40 before the end of the fourth quarter. However, the Clippers were fiercely chased 114-115 by Westbrook's three points and George's five consecutive points.
The Lakers scored two points and widened the score to 117-114 but the Clippers' pursuit continued. The Clippers drew a foul from Cam Reddish while George threw a 3-pointer 17 seconds before the end. George made three given free throws neatly to tie the score 117-117 and lead the game to extra time.
But the victory was for the Lakers. The Lakers ran away by five points, 124-119, with a 3-point play by Austin Reeves, a delightful dunk by James following Reeves' assist.
