Naturally, Hong, who won two consecutive K-League 1 titles and coached the national team in the past, was mentioned as the top priority. Fans of his or her team fumed as the names of incumbent coaches such as Kim Hak-beom of Jeju United and Kim Ki-dong of FC Seoul were also mentioned as candidates. He criticized the team's attempt to oust the coach ahead of the opening of the K-League, calling it a "disrespect of the league." Unintentionally, the K-League coach bowed his head as if he were a sinner. Then, the committee turned to the provisional coach system in March at the second meeting held three days later. He thus proved himself that the group is being attracted by the public, let alone its direction.
"I wonder what kind of soccer you think about the national soccer team (in the KFA)," Gwangju FC coach Lee Jung-hyo said. "We need to get a coach who fits the situation. I think he only thinks of famous coaches and doesn't think about philosophy." Park Tae-ha, a Pohang Steelers coach who served as a member of the Korea Association's power reinforcement committee when Klinsmann stepped down, also expressed regret over the reality, saying that he was "unusual" when he talked about the association's administration.
Coach Kim Hak-beom, who is also a candidate for the next head coach, said, "It's not my business. The power strengthening committee will take care of it."
In a rare move ahead of the main media day event, the Korea Professional Football Federation sent a text message to reporters asking them not to ask questions about the national team. As such, the K-League issue is being buried in the controversy over the administration of the KFA.
Meanwhile, the committee plans to announce the appointment after final discussions on the appointment of an interim head coach at its third meeting on Thursday. It is known that Hwang Sun-hong, the head coach of the Olympic team, is the dominant view.
