It flew to the general manager's post. This means that it is a shocking situation. The shock transfer of the "One Club Man" who played for 23 years. What the hell is going on. There are parts that are not easily understandable.

SSG Landers announced the dismissal of Kim Sung-yong, the general manager, on the 25th. SSG replaced General Manager Ryu Sun-kyu, who led the team's unified victory in the 2022 season, and ambitiously put General Manager Kim in his place. A long-time manager of Yatago High School and a leader who made a name for himself in amateur baseball. However, he revealed his lack of work as a professional general manager.

After Kim Won-hyung's replacement, problems arose from the appointment of a new coach. It began with rumors of LG Twins coach Lee Ho-joon's appointment ahead of the Korean Series. In the baseball world, where there are many rumors, it can be said that, but in fact, the mouth control should have been thoroughly carried out over the important issue of manager selection. And the follow-up was not smooth. It led to a battle of truth between SSG and this coach.

As SSG appointed new coach Lee Sung-yong, the problem seemed to sink to the surface. However, the "shock" transfer of veteran Kim Kang-min, who played in the same team for 23 years, shook the baseball field. Ahead of the second draft, SSG did not include Kim Kang-min, who was considering retirement, on the protected list, and the Hanwha Eagles took Kim Kang-min away. Kim Kang-min set aside his honorable retirement from SSG and chose to go to Hanwha to extend his active career. A lot of noise occurred in the process, and eventually SSG demoted General Manager Kim to account.

For now, SSG, which has lost its franchise star in vain, is receiving tremendous criticism. The SSG is also admitting its wrongdoings. However, there is also an unfair aspect.

Looking back in time, it's like this. Kim Kang-min turns 42 years old after the year. I'm old enough to retire. In fact, Kim Kang-min expressed his intention to retire during the season. So after the season, former general manager Kim met with Kim Kang-min and shared his opinion.

At the meeting, there were various stories such as retirement and playing coach. The SSG club began preparing for the retirement ceremony, retirement games, and permanent absenteeism. There is one thing to point out here. It is a question of how much Kim Kang-min expressed his willingness to extend his active duty at this meeting. Kim Kang-min strongly wanted to extend his active duty, and if former general manager Kim did not notice it or pushed for retirement, he could be responsible for the club. However, if he took a stance to put down his regret for his active role to some extent, the club would also be confused.

The variable was the second draft. There has already been some talk in the baseball world that Kim Kang-min is preparing for retirement. It's 'in-law' not to touch such a player. However, taking this player does not mean Hanwha violated the rules. This is where the SSG is criticized. No matter how valuable a veteran player is, it is inevitable that if there is a possibility of leaving at all, he should have been grouped as a protective player or appealed to each club.

What I'm curious about, however, is Kim Kang-min's choice. It is natural that all players want to play as players even for one more year. However, if it's Kim Kang-min, it's a different case. If he had ended his career at SSG, he had huge benefits waiting for him, including a spectacular retirement ceremony, permanent absence, training as a leader and coaching position. If I had a good career, it was enough to be a coach. The fact that he also talked about retirement with the club means that he had this in mind. It is a point that baseball players do not easily understand that a player who was preparing for retirement gives up all of this and goes to Hanwha. The world of professionals is that they can run for a year and pack their bags without getting a proper chance to go to Hanwha.

If so, maybe Hanwha made an "appealing" offer to Kim Kang-min. For example, it is a promise such as giving a guaranteed contract to play for two to three years as a player, or opening the way to work as a leader after retirement. It is said that Sohn Hyuk, the general manager, has evaluated Kim Kang-min as a good leader since the past. It is an operation to change the mind of Kim Kang-min, who is worried after the second draft nomination. However, a Hanwha official said, "There is no such thing. We just named the players we need among the players who were removed from the protected list," he said.

If so, the conclusion is that Kim Kang-min's willingness to extend his active duty was incredibly stronger than SSG thought. Some argue that Kim Kang-min wants to continue playing as a player, but as the SSG club is oriented toward retirement, it may have been inevitable from the perspective of an older player. Kim Kang-min himself may have been shaken by the situation where he had no choice but to bounce the abacus at Hanwha's call because he did not expect a team to name him in the second draft.

Or, the possibility cannot be ignored that Kim Kang-min felt sorry for SSG, who was confused by more urgent issues such as the appointment of a coach, who did not pay much attention to him. For such Kim Kang-min, Hanwha's "warm" touch would have been a temptation to shake off. However, SSG also protested that he had no intention of neglecting the courtesy of Kim Kang-min, although it is true that he focused all his attention on dealing with urgent matters such as the appointment of a coach. In other words, SSG's mistake was to classify Kim Kang-min as a "retired player" too early.
