The Kodish Company today announced a donation of more than $325 million to the local and state economies, celebrating the first anniversary of Casino and Hotel Philadelphia, a world-class gaming, hotel, dining and entertainment destination located at the center of the Philadelphia Stadium District. The festival included an official declaration by the city of Philadelphia declaring Feb. 11 to be Live! Day.
Along with Cordish Company President David Cordish, Principals Jon and Reed Cordish, COO Zed Smith, and Rob Norton, president of the Cordish Gaming Group, and Joe Billhimer, vice president, attended special media and community celebrations featuring Philadelphia City Council member Shila Hess, Philadelphia City Council member Mark Squilla, and numerous business, tourism, and community leaders from the area.
The celebration also featured special appearances by former Philadelphia Eagles long snapper and magician John Dorenbos and the South Philadelphia String Band, the Mermouth Champions. Highlights of the event included a huge four-tiered commemorative cake made by Philadelphia's favorite Termini Brothers Bakery.

Live! With over $700 million in investment, Casino & Hotel Philadelphia was pleased to announce over $325 million in contributions to local and state economies during its first year of operation. It includes: More than $91 million in taxes imposed on Pennsylvania's federal government Team members were compensated for $51.9 million in wages The opening of the facility has created more than 1,300 new permanent jobs and more than 54% of team members live in the city of Philadelphia. Local businesses also benefited, with Live! spending more than $100 million with local, minority, and female-owned businesses. Guests also won the championship with jackpot prizes totaling more than $81.7 million. Live! continues to invest in facility upgrades and continues to incorporate customer feedback to help casinos enjoy the latest and most exciting games.
In recognition of the significant impact Live! has had on the city and its residents, city representative Sheila Hess issued a declaration to the company declaring the official anniversary Feb. 11.
"We are very proud of the positive impact we made on the community during our first year of business and thank the city of Philadelphia for its kind recognition," said David Cordisi, president of Cordisi Company. "We kept our promise to create a global destination, which also became an economic driver for the greater Philadelphia region."

The Cordish Company has long embraced the culture of donation and community service, and its entry into the Philadelphia market was no exception. Charities in the Greater Philadelphia area have received more than $454,000 in donations through cash and in-kind support, and team members have volunteered more than 500 hours of community service.
Among the many beneficiaries were Philadelphia, the American Red Cross, the American Cancer Society, the Alzheimer's Association, the USO of Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Philadelphia, the Jaws Youth Playbook, the Darren Doughton Foundation, the Delaware Valley, and the Southeastern Youth Athletic League.
