Total Macau visitation during CNY Golden Week 2024 (10th-17th) was 1,357,803, with a daily average visitation of 169,725.
Daily average visitation grew 163 percent compared to CNY Golden Week 2023. Analysts from Citigroup note that the daily average visitation is 41 percent above the 120,000 daily average that the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) expected.
Daily average mainland China visitors rose 242 percent versus CNY Golden Week 2023, or 1 percent above CNY Golden Week 2019. Mainland China visitors represent about 76 percent of the total visitation, compared to 74 percent in CNY Golden Week 2019, while Hong Kong visitors represent 19 percent.
Average hotel occupancy reached 95.2 percent, with the highest occupancy of 97.9 percent achieved on Day 4 of CNY Golden Week. The average room rate increased by 23.4 percent year-on-year to MOP1,922 ($239) during CNY Golden Week 2024.
International visitor arrivals rebound to 79 percent of pre-pandemic In a press release from the Macau Government Tourism Office, provisional figures show that the average daily volume of international visitors was about 6,600, which represents a rebound to 78.5 percent of the 2019 level. These figures suggest that visitor arrivals are trending towards significant recovery.
