The 7th Namyangju Mayor's Cup Charitable Golf Tournament was held at Namyangju Sea Beach Country Club (CC) located in Hwado-eup on the morning of the 15th to support the vulnerable in Namyangju.

The competition was hosted by the Gyeonggi Ilbo, Namyangju City, and Namyangju City Sports Council, organized by the Namyangju Golf Association, and sponsored by the Gyeonggi Eastern Chamber of Commerce and the Sea Beach Country Club.

The event was attended by more than 200 local businessmen, sportsmen and officials, including Namyangju Mayor Joo Kwang-deok, Gyeonggi Ilbo Managing Director Kim Young-jin, Gyeonggi Eastern Chamber of Commerce Chairman Moon Han-kyung, Namyangju City Sports Council President Yoon Sung-hyun, Namyangju City Sports Council Advisor Kim Jung-ryul, and Namyangju Golf Association President Jeon Byung-ho.

The game, which kicked off with a hit from guests such as Kim Young-jin, managing director of the Gyeonggi Ilbo, Yoon Sung-hyun, chairman of the Namyangju Sports Council, and Moon Han-kyung, chairman of the Gyeonggi Eastern Chamber of Commerce, was held with 160 people from 40 teams participating in the tee-up method (four players from one team) and the game was conducted in a shotgun method (starting at the same time with 18 holes) and a neo-perio method.

Due to the sudden downpour on the day, it was reduced from 18 holes to 9 holes, but the participants showed off their skills they have honed so far, while smiling brightly and reaffirming their friendship and harmony.

At the awards ceremony, Yoo Sang-il was selected as the men's and women's medalists with 34 strokes and Jeong In-jeong with 35 strokes, respectively. Shin Sang-ho won the men's title with 53.8 strokes, and Yoo Chang-jae finished second with 54.8. Kim Mi-young then won the women's title with 58.4 strokes, and Kwon Mi-ran finished second with 58.8 strokes.

In the Sinperio and Longguest categories, the game was suspended in the middle due to heavy rain, and two men and women were selected each through a lottery.

In particular, at the donation delivery ceremony, Kim Min-soo, CEO of Hae Beach CC, delivered 14 million won in donations prepared as a charity golf tournament, and Moon Han-kyung, chairman of the Gyeonggi Eastern Chamber of Commerce, delivered 1 million won to the Namyangju Welfare Foundation.

The Namyangju Sports Council then delivered 30 million won in scholarships for aspiring sports with donations raised by holding the first charity golf tournament in 2015 and the fifth charity golf tournament in 2019.

Mayor Joo Kwang-deok said, "As sharing is happiness beyond imagination, I respect and thank you for taking the lead in Namyangju's super growth."

I hope there will be more meaningful events like today, so that warm helping hands will brighten up all over the community." Mayor Joo Kwang-deok expressed his feelings about holding the 7th Namyangju Mayor's Cup Charitable Golf Tournament held at the Hae Beach Country Club (CC) on the 15th.

"As such, Namyangju City is focusing its administrative power on establishing and strengthening a life-oriented welfare system that encompasses various ages and classes from children to senior citizens. Recently, three Namyangju-type care centers, Sangsang Nuri Center, have opened," he said. "This is the first local government-type elementary care center in the country to establish a cooperative care system with the local community, and we are continuing to expand it."

"Golf is becoming a sport of daily sports, with the number of people enjoying it increasing significantly as related infrastructure expands. In particular, Park Golf and Ground Golf have established themselves as daily sports in many local governments, including Namyangju," Mayor Joo said. "Lifelong sports bring mental and emotional stability as well as physical health to our lives. Namyangju City is doing its best to make any citizen feel the best happiness through sports, such as facing a pleasant daily life and leading a healthy life," he stressed.

Lastly, "Like the free tennis academy for children, which has been continuously promoted since last year, we will continue to strive to provide and expand the 'one person, one sport' program, as well as provide and expand Namyangju FC operation and revitalization, establish barefoot walking paths by region, improve and create various sports facilities, and realize sports welfare," he said. "We will do our best to realize Namyangju and raise the citizens' happiness index to the highest level."
