What influenced the decision to create a major shopping area, according to Chipetakis, was the potential for demand, along with the possibility of adding a duty-free trade zone to the Primorsky region, which would provide tax breaks to foreign citizens.
In a filing last week, Summit Ascension said it expects to be able to operate Tigred Crystal's Phase 2 Phase 1 "in the second half of 2019." At the time, the Hong Kong-listed company said, "We are finalizing our design and financing options so that we can start construction."
Asia-facing Tigred Crystal, owned by Summit Ascension Holdings Limited, the parent company of operator G1 Entertainment, opened its $175 million first-phase completion ceremony with 121 hotel rooms and suites. Currently, casinos offer sports betting, over 23 general and VIP tables, and over 283 video slot machines.
Currently, Tigred Crystal Resort is the only casino accommodation operating in the Maritime Entertainment Zone.
