Son Heung-min's autograph gift, reuniting with his old teacher...An unforgettable warm-up match between Vietnam and South Korea

Vietnam suffered a complete defeat against South Korea in the warm-up match, but gained good experience and meaningful memories.

The Vietnamese national soccer team, led by head coach Philippe Trousier, suffered a 0-6 defeat to South Korea in a friendly match for the Hana Bank invited national soccer team at Suwon World Cup Stadium on the 17th. For Vietnam, which is ranked 95th in the FIFA rankings, Korea, ranked 26th, was too strong an opponent.

Although he lost by a big score, coach Trussier had faith that the players would grow further. "The defeat and the score is not surprising. I felt a big difference in each player's ability and experience," he said, admitting his defeat. "The biggest harvest Vietnam has gained from this game is experience," he said. "Playing against world-class and high-level teams is a huge opportunity. It will be the foundation," he expected.

Vietnam was considered one step below Korea, but it did its best until the end of the match. Jurgen Klinsmann, the coach of the Korean national soccer team, said, "It was a difficult game compared to the result. I respect Vietnam, he applauded, saying, "I highly appreciate the part that Vietnamese players put everything into the field."

However, despite the complete defeat, Vietnamese players did not show any disappointment on their faces. Rather, the smile was wide due to "World Class" Son Heung-min (Tottenham).

Even before the match, Vietnam's biggest interest was Son Heung-min. Expectations were high for the meeting with a world-class striker who boasted a brilliant career, including the FIFA Pushkashi Award in the 2020-2021 season and the English Premier League's top scorer (23 goals) in the 2021-2022 season.

After the match, the Vietnamese players ran to Son Heung-min and asked for an autograph and a photo. Vietnam's captain Qu Ngoc Hai posted a photo with Son Heung-min on his SNS.

Son Heung-min recently suffered from groin pain but played full time against Vietnam. He fired up his fighting spirit to repay the support of more than 40,000 spectators who visited the stadium. In the 15th minute of the second half, he scored his fourth goal to contribute to his team's complete 6-0 victory.

The Vietnamese players had a meaningful time before the game. A welcome reunion with Park Hang-seo, former coach of the Vietnamese national soccer team, was held.

Before the game, former coach Park attended the encouragement session for the players of both teams. According to the Korea Football Association, former coach Park is the first to encourage foreign national team players who coached just before at the A match event held in Korea.

Former coach Park served as coach of the Vietnamese adult national team and the U23 national team for about five years from 2017 to January this year. He is praised as a hero of Vietnamese soccer for his best performance ever, including advancing to the semifinals of the first Asian Games (2018), winning the Southeast Asian Games soccer championship (2019), and advancing to the final qualifying round for the 2022 Qatar World Cup. https://www.sportstototop.com

Vietnamese players could not hide their joy at the reunion with former coach Park. Vietnamese defender Doduiman, who attended a preliminary press conference the previous day (16th), expressed his expectation, saying, "The coach's visit is very welcome news for the players," adding, "It will be a good opportunity to boost morale."

Although it was a complete defeat, it will be an unforgettable warm-up match in many ways. The Vietnamese players returned home after receiving valuable gifts.
